Expert Analysis

19 points, nine rebounds, four assists, eight steals and a block in three quarters. I think that stat line speaks for itself. Wilson had the single most dominant individual first-round performance in the Pearl Bracket against North Medford. From the opening tip, the Black Tornado had no answer for her downhill drives, her ability to draw fouls, her tight handles, and her incredible conditioning. It didn’t look like she lost a step all game, and she may have recorded a triple-double if she played even a couple of minutes in the fourth quarter. On defense, Wilson took the ball away in multiple ways, including picking off lob passes and just plain wrestling the ball away from somebody on a trap.

Wilson played on one of the only teams in the league without a substitute player, but she brought energy, grit and vocal leadership every second she was on the court. On the tall side for her position, Wilson can easily slide to the 3 or the 4 due to her defensive intensity. She cuts to the basket very hard without the ball, and with it, she has the lower body strength to finish off both feet and with both hands through contact. Her jumper, while on the slower side, is technically sound and has a strong follow through. As a sophomore last year, she was a key contributor on a solid Grant team with four seniors. Expect her to turn even more heads as a junior.

at the Select Events 17U Power 24 national championship tournament. Wilson is known for her high effort, athletic physicality, and tenacious defense. On the competitive national stage, Wilson brought the ball up with pace and confidence, zipped passes to the slasher, and knocked down the catch-and-shoot three. She moved well off the ball, had great hands to finish on the cut, and made tough drives on the bounce. Wilson runs the court, rebounds, and dives to the floor to win the 50/50. She’s a standout role player on her club team and a rising leader on her high school one. Wilson was named to the 6A Portland Interscholastic League Second Team in her sophomore season. The Generals placed third in the PIL and lost to South Salem in the first round of the state playoffs.
