The Mount Horeb is a talented kid who elevated her Vikings team last season, even when things didn’t go well. In a world where I had advanced numbers with her on-off splits or anything that would tell us how much better Mount Horeb was when Monroe had the ball, it would be jaw-dropping. She moves the ball and generates open looks for her teammates, and when she wants to attack, she usually creates efficient looks at the rim. The Viking is not flashy, but Monroe is productive.

The Mount Horeb guard is the x-factor for the Vikings. The more Courtney Monroe Courtney Monroe 5'6" | CG Mount Horeb | 2027 WI touches the ball on the offensive end of the floor, the better the results. She’s an excellent creator for others off the dribble, keeps her head up when she attacks the basket, and is a threat to get to the rim. The Mount Horeb sophomore is more of a pass-first kid playing with a handful of kids looking to score when they get time and space. Her mentality is a minor balance for some of the stylistic differences the Vikings have amongst each other, but Monroe has been the one kid in the three games I’ve seen that made me think she should have the ball more.

Mount Horeb is still figuring some things out, but Monroe has been the kid who’s excelled all season. No matter where she is or who defends her, Monroe makes the right play whenever she has the ball, and good things happen when she can get multiple touches per possession. They have kids who can score, but Monroe is the kid who can help get the most out of her teammates and still does, even when things aren’t going well.
