After a 2024-25 season that saw Atlantic Collegiate finish 11-13, the Armada was looking to take that next step to solidify contender status. Landing a marquee transfer such as Capers will do just that. Capers proved to be a key factor in Atlantic Collegiate winning this past season’s 2A Lower State championship in only its third season as a program. A stalwart in the Armada’s backcourt, Capers would play in 24 of Atlantic Collegiate’s games for a team that finished 23-3 this past season. She would average a robust 13.4 points and 1.4 steals per contest. Capers was one of five 2028s on this past season’s Armada assembling.

Just a few short years ago, there was no such thing as an Atlantic Collegiate Academy. In only its third season of existence, the Armada have made its mark on the Palmetto State’s high school girls basketball landscape. Even though the Armada came up short against Landrum in the 2A state contest, Capers added eight points to the Atlantic Collegiate cause. She was one of the signature transfers of the offseason and kept Atlantic Collegiate in the contenders’ conversation from start to finish. Capers would average 13.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 24 games to lead the Armada to a Lower State championship.

The last time Atlantic Collegiate was placed in the loss column was in mid-December by way of Oceanside Collegiate – and that was only a two-point defeat to the Landsharks. Since then, the Armada have reeled off 15 consecutive victories – including a first-round, 77-39 victory over Manning that saw Capers lead the way with 19 points. The star Atlantic Collegiate sophomore has been the Armada’s leading scorer all season, averaging 13.2 points and 1.6 steals per contest. Capers and the Armada will look to earn a sweet 16th consecutive win as Atlantic Collegiate will face off against Philip Simmons in the second round.

One of the Palmetto State’s premier sophomore guards, Capers’ addition to the Armada has paid dividends all season long. She displayed once again why she has given such a boost to Atlantic Collegiate to the tune of 17 points against a tough out in Kingstree. Capers displays how quick she can be on her feet with her ability to switch defensive assignments and match whoever she is defending step for step and move for move. While Capers understands how to locate attacking lanes to the rim and finish strong at the cup, a team can also place her in its starting five as a two guard.

Capers has been playing at the varsity level for two years – since she was a seventh grader. She is a freshman with a bit more experience than the average 2028. When Capers and her 3A Loris squad took on 5A Westwood, she contributed 10 points to the Lions’ 60-53 victory over the Redhawks. As she has gained more experience, various areas of her game are being sharpened, including what she does on the defensive side of the floor. Capers primarily plays as a point guard and places emphasis on ball handling. A 3-point shot is also an element of Capers’ offensive arsenal.
