Bridges and her 5A Division 1 Spartanburg assembling faced a tough test in its bid to finish its showcase undefeated. The Wildcats of 2A Blacksburg battled the Vikings to the wire but 19 points from Bridges ensured Spartanburg would begin the season 3-0. She had 14 of her 19 in the first half of play. Bridges also tallied 16 points, hauled in eight rebounds and dished out four assists in an earlier victory over 5A Division 2 Catawba Ridge. If Bridges finds a lane to the rim, the result will likely be her attacking, finishing strong at the rim and possibly drawing contact to get to the free throw line. As a junior, Bridges has gained plenty of experience in how to respond through adversity such as what Spartanburg experienced against Blacksburg.

Early last month, this skilled standout from 5A Division 1 Spartanburg landed her first offer from coach Johnette Walker and Newberry College. If she performs similarly to how she performed in North Charleston, many a collegiate coach will want Bridges sporting their colors when her Vikings career concludes. Point guard-small forward combinations are rare, but Bridges fuses together attributes of both with a high degree of efficiency. Bridges took to the court wearing Spartanburg’s Vegas gold and navy-blue hues on 27 occasions last season and averaged 10.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.4 steals per contest.

If one is a noteworthy in-state talent, there is a good chance said talent will secure an offer from coach Johnette Walker at Newberry College. Bridges did just that in the early parts of last month. She stands at 5-foot-6 and is part of a 5A Division 1 Spartanburg team that once again qualified for last season’s state tournament. We recently highlighted Bridges as an under-the-radar 2027 to be on the lookout for this season. Coach Leslie Boyd hopes to further solidify contender status for her Spartanburg assembling and a big season from Bridges will go a long way in achieving that objective.

Bridges looks to be a bridge to lots more victories for 5A Division 1 Spartanburg over the next couple of seasons. At the start of the month, Bridges landed her first collegiate offer from Newberry College and coach Johnette Walker. One can place the 5-foot-6 guard at either of the two backcourt spots. Bridges especially thrives as an attacker rim – a trait many coaches will look for out of point guards. She is a multi-sport athlete as she has also competed in track and field events in addition to what she has accomplished basketball-wise. Bridges did help the Vikings to a two-win improvement over the season before.
