Carolina All-Stars 15U P32 had a rough weekend at this year’s Southeast Kickoff but did manage to close the weekend with a victory over Alabama Dream 15U. Oliver displayed her toughness all weekend as she fearless went at opposing defenders when she had the ball in her hands. She does not shy away from physicality as contact drawn means opportunities to make things happen at the free throw line. As a combo guard, one also has to watch out for Oliver when she has the ball behind the 3-point line. Getting out in transition is another positive attribute to Oliver’s skillset. 

After earning plenty of playing time as a freshman and averaging 10 points per game this past season, Oliver is looking to translate that into even more solid play during the travel season. Oliver plays the role of a point guard more than a two guard and this displays itself with how ferociously she attacks the rim. She is listed at 5-foot-7. A number of those occasions where she does go strong in attacking the cup can result in her getting fouled and her going to the free throw line. Getting out in the open floor to make plays in transition is another advantage to her overall game. 

DeZiah Oliver DeZiah Oliver 5'5" | PG/CG NC GBB | 2029 NC had some nice handles with the ball being aggressive driving against contact and knowing when to kick it out to her teammates for their shot.  She used every bit of her height jumping in front of passes, and she scored off of turnovers making solo fast breaks.  She didn’t mind deflecting the ball away from guards trying to dribble by her.  She had some nice takes to the rim rolling the ball off her fingertips.

DeZiah Oliver DeZiah Oliver 5'5" | PG/CG NC GBB | 2029 NC was running the court well catching the ball in transition and scoring easily.  She knew when to release up the court looking for the pass or settle back and help bring the ball up the court to get a half court set going for her team.  Her speed was an asset on defense, too.

Oliver is a 2029 that is playing up in class – and she is displaying with her play that her skills are more than worthy of being put to the test against players with a bit more experience than she has. Her Carolina All-Stars 15U E40 team was in an entertaining contest with Macon Mystics 2028. Even though the Georgia-based team came from behind late to stun the North Carolina assembling, Oliver’s seven points ensured that her team had a great opportunity at the victory. Even with only scoring seven points, she showcased her ability to score at all three levels and displayed exactly why she has a rising profile in Hoop State circles.
