On York Institute’s run to an appearance in the state final, senior Emma Pile Emma Pile 5'9" | SF York Institute | 2026 State TN continually stood out.
In all three of the games they played at Murfreesboro, all the point margins were eight points or below. In the tightly contested games, they needed some players to hit big shots. This was especially true in their two-point win in the semi-finals against Loretto. The senior Pile was ready for this moment.
She went on to score a game-high 19 points, which included her going 4-7 from distance. Pile as a shooter is mainly just a catch-and-shoot threat. But in this, she can break games with her shooting. This was seen in a game against Monterey High School in her junior season, where she made 15 three-pointers. Pile is also capable of creating points in the paint and does not shy away from contact. Against Loretto in this year’s state tournament, she had an and-one layup.

Low post threat heading to Maryville next season. She controls the painted area. Offensively, she will finish through contact and create second-chance opportunities. I love her footwork she displays around the blocks. Defensively, she is going to hold it down in the low post area, making it hard for opponents to operate, controlling the boards. She is a talented kid who impacts the Dragonettes ballclub. Look for her to be tough and physical down low as they compete and get back to the state this season.

She’s hot! Her team dominated Monterey but it was her performance that’s one for the record books. She finished with 47 points, which is a program record. She knocked down 15 threes, which is tied for second most in TSSAA history. I told you the Dragonettes were on a mission. Look for her and her teammates to build off performances like this as they approach the postseason.

I really like Pile’s game as a stretch big for York! The sophomore hit a huge 3 at the end of the 3rd to extend the York lead back to 3. There were times I wanted her to shoot the ball more when York when cold.
