Francesca “Frankie” Koehnke had a great breakout freshman year and continues to play at a high level. She definitely stood out at the Expo, showcasing her shooting ability, playmaking and poise as a ball-handler and floor general. Frankie plays with a lot of joy and brings an energy to the court that is easy to notice. She also understands that impacting the game isn’t always about scoring—she consistently does the little things that help her team succeed.

Offensively, Frankie has the ability to step up when her team needs a big play. Whether it’s knocking down a three-pointer when the defense gives her an opportunity or putting the ball on the floor and driving to the basket, she is comfortable creating offense in different ways. What also impressed me is her strength for her size. Frankie is able to absorb contact, play through physical defense and finish in the paint, allowing her to play bigger than she is.

Frankie’s combination of shooting, playmaking, poise, strength and genuine joy for the game makes her a player who can impact winning in a variety of ways. After her breakout freshman season, she looks poised to continue building on that success and developing into an even more complete player.

Koehnke was already one of the fastest-rising prospects throughout last season. But I think we need to revisit what she’s accomplished in just her freshman season and the summer following. With her long-range marksmanship, remarkable leadership, volume scoring and playmaking, she took a Rams team that finished fifth in the conference in 2025 all the way to cutting down the Pendleton nets in 2026. She wasn’t just all-tournament or all-state — she was the 2A player of the year. After taking home all of that hardware, she got right back to work at the Mid Major Classic, where she scored 20 points in the final and took home tournament MVP. The accolades speak for themselves; Koehnke is a winner, a highly advanced underclassman, and one of Oregon’s finest high school athletes.

Five-foot-3 guard Francesca Koehnke Francesca Koehnke 5'6" | PG/SG Regis | 2029 State OR is an “unbelievable” shooter who “throws in shots from everywhere.” She ran with Oregon Elite ‘s 15U squad over the spring and summer, and is expected to be on the club’s top team, 17U Navy, next season. The incoming freshman will have her high school debut at Regis, a team that placed 5th in the Tri-River Conference last season.
