We can see that Frankie Long is use to being the tallest on the floor during her times on the Varsity High School floor but that’s okay. Long is going to learn a lot of things over the next 3-4 months on the road with her Iowa Hoops Dream Girls team. This weekend she showed up in the rebounding portion of things and she had glimpses of really good defensive possessions in general as a rim-protector. She recorded some games with a few positive stats in each category. If Long can continue to be a sponge around everyone within this program then she is going to return to Marshalltown this Winter with vengeance on her mind. There is no doubt about that.

of Marshalltown High School has been a producer for her program ever since she took over the varsity floor as a Freshman. Since, Long has continued to stack days and build on her game. For her Sophomore season last Winter, Long recored just over 70 Blocks on the year, protecting the middle with every chance she could. It’s also important to note that she was tasked with leading her team is Scoring Per Game and Rebounding Per Game. Making the feat on defense even more impressive in my book. Long is looked upon to do A LOT for her team. Collegiate coaches are going to notice that and her interest will grow over the next few years if she stays on this trajectory.

Marshalltown showed their defensive capabilities on Wednesday night when they let in 10 total points against their opponent, Des Moines East. Not only did they let in just 10 points going into the 4th quarter, they were practically pitching a shutout while holding the Scarlets to 1 total point throughout 3 quarters of play. This demonstration of grit just shows what this group can do when they put their minds to it. Their highest scoring weapon on the offensive side ended up being their 6’2 PF/Center,

. It makes sense that Long would feast in this type of situation. Des Moines East just didn’t have the height to combat Long and that helped her succeed. Round Two is going to be a much bigger challenge for Marshalltown but it’s one that they are up for. I’m sure they are feeling good after this one but now it’s time to lock in and stay focused.

last season when she stepped onto the Varsity floor at Marshalltown. For her rendition this time around, Long will look to build on her fast start. At 6’1, you can imagine that this is someone who thrives in the departments of scoring and rebounding around the rim. Within the conference that this team competes in and the opponents that they will face, it’s not crazy to imagine that Long could do even better than a year ago. She just needs the support behind her and the rest could be history.

put together a respectable season for her Freshman year on the Varsity floor and she is looking to build on that over this next eight months. Long is ironically lengthy with some great height to pair along with it at 6’1. She was someone that did a great job of coming into her own last season as the year went on and she is going to be able to expand on that this Winter if she works hard enough. I would assume that she is going to average around a double-double in Points-Rebounds and that will just be the tip of the iceberg in the grand scheme of things.
