She has become a major piece of Windsor’s success over the last few months. Offensively, she’s been on a roll finding ways to score in transition and in the half court while still defending at a high level. What makes her even more valuable is her ability to distribute the ball and keep others involved while staying aggressive herself.

Gabby began coming out of her shell last season showing flashes of what she could be at the guard spot. This year, she enters with far more confidence on the offensive end, whether she’s pushing the pace in transition or attacking opposing guards off the dribble. Her growth gives Windsor another dynamic option in the backcourt.

Summer is a fun season for a player like Gates. She is fast, strong and smart on the court, an exciting combo for the Hardwood PG. On defense she is in your face. She uses her quickness to pressure dribblers all over the floor. She is a menace guarding on the wing and not afraid to get in the paint and mix it up with the taller post players for a rebound or loose ball. On offense, her constant movement is a problem for defenses. Whether slashing through the defense or coming off screens for buckets, she is always looking to score. Gabby can definitely score. She is great with the ball in her hands, getting all the way to the baseket, or hitting jumpers. She also has range behind the 3pt line. This guard checks all the boxes for a productive and exciting summer.

Gabby Gates was a calming presence and solid contributor for the Windsor Wizards last season. As a sophomore, she was usually in the starting lineup and managed to tie for first place on the team in 3 point percentage, while also helping with ball handling duties. You will hear coaches say all the time, “there is no substitute for experience” and Gates has a nice skill set to go with her valuable experience the last two years. Gabby does a little of everything on the court – She is a quality ball handler that deals with pressure well, displays defensive leadership, and rebounds really well for a guard. With a little more vocal leadership and aggressiveness on the court this could be a breakout campaign for Gates.
