Campbell is a shifty point guard with length, and she is dangerous when attacking the basket. She can finish through traffic, either by absorbing contact on her way up or hitting the second line of defense with a smooth euro-step or step-through.

Scoring-wise, Campbell just needs to keep shooting from outside. She has a good shooting stroke on her jumper, as well as a solid arc and good shot elevation.

Campbell took charge every time she was on the floor. She is a great ball-handler who seems unpluckable. She can change the pace of the game in a matter of moments, throwing the defense completely off. This allowed her to fly by defenders at times and get straight to the basket, or to feed a trailing teammate down the lane.

Her playmaking was stellar, but so was her scoring. She has a very quick release on her jumpshot, and she gets excellent elevation, both off the catch and off the dribble. She was knocking down those jumpers at crucial moments during the scrimmages, but she was also attacking the basket with intentionality and finishing well through contact.

Campbell is coming off a successful stint with her AAU squad, Team Icon 16u, as well as an opportunity at the Euro Youth Basketball Tour in Spain. How many hoopers from central Arkansas can say they have played in basketball tournaments on the international stage? Probably very few.

It is not hard to wonder why Campbell was selected to represent the USA in that tournament. She is a phenomenal scorer, being able to score while attacking the basket, shooting over the defense in the lane, and knocking down jumpers in the mid-range and 3-point areas. She also excels when she finds her open teammates and when she creates havoc on the defensive end.

Gia Campbell Gia Campbell 5'7" | PG/SG State AR led the way offensively for Bauxite this season. Though the Lady Miners had their tough moments, this freshman was a bright spot who was one of the more consistent scorers in the 4A classification.

Campbell is a fantastic markswoman from beyond the arch. Defenders cannot go under a screen when guarding her, because she has no trouble burying the shot off the dribble. If the defender goes over on the screen, she can simply drive past them and get to her spots inside.

On the defensive end, Campbell has proven to be a hounding on-ball perimeter defender. She moves her feet well laterally, staying in front of her assignment every possession. She also plays with active hands, reacting quickly to bad passes and sloppy handles.

Gia Campbell Gia Campbell 5'7" | PG/SG State AR is playing like an elite prospect this season, and she is bound to pick up an offer soon. Though she is a 5’7″ guard, she outplays many of the forwards and post players she faces in the paint.

Campbell is on double-double watch every night. On Saturday, Campbell recorded a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double, in addition to 4 steals and hitting the game winner. She has that clutch gene in her, and she never wavers against tough defense. Campbell drives hard to the basket, and if she does not finish the first time, she is the first one to grab the miss.

Campbell’s rebounding sets her apart from other guards in her class. As I mentioned, she had 10 boards the other night against Warren, but she also grabbed 14 rebounds against Episcopal Collegiate in November. She can either start the fastbreak or give her team second-chance opportunities.

Having a guard who can rebound at a high level is rare, yet important, and Bauxite has that in Gia Campbell Gia Campbell 5'7" | PG/SG State AR . Watch out for this rising star for the rest of the 2024/25 season.
