Expert Analysis
Saveion Birchfield | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Hannah is one of those defenders that’s just hard to get past. Watching her play was a sight to see, just how she wears down ball-handlers with her physical strength she really slows them down. On offense she’s very skilled, she’s a scorer on all three levels. She’s able to hit some really difficult shots in traffic and just is an absolute bully in the paint bumping any and every defender off of her.

The energy in the arena remained high, and as Hannah Moss took her turn beyond the three-point line, a different kind of focus settled over her. Where Jasmine’s shots might have been about pure, confident rhythm, Hannah’s had a certain grit and determination. You could see the slight set of her jaw as she lined up each shot, a steely resolve in her gaze. Her release was quick and efficient, almost like she was willing the ball into the hoop through sheer willpower. And more often than not, it listened! Each successful three seemed to be punctuated by a little nod of satisfaction, a quiet acknowledgment of the work she’d put in. Maybe she’d faced some tough defenders or had a slow start, but with every three-pointer that dropped, Hannah seemed to gain momentum, her presence on the court growing with each swish. She was showing a different kind of firepower, a testament to her mental toughness and unwavering focus under pressure at the Roll Tide Rumble.

Moss has received plenty of Division I attention for a while as evidenced by the offers she received from UNCW, George Washington, Appalachian State, UMBC and North Carolina A&T among others. Her impressive display of basketball continued this past weekend in Guntersville. Her Team Elite Hubbard 17U bunch went 3-1 this past weekend. The only loss was a close one to SGB 17U Barton. She had 16 points in that loss. A North Carolina prospect on a Georgia-centric AAU team, Moss is finding more success on the court after encountering plenty of it this past season at Butler where her team finished with a 24-3 record.

had an exceptional year with Butler this season. She’s explosive getting to the rim throwing it into another gear before her defender has a chance to catch up. Her crossovers and hesitation moves are sure to create some space, too, as she can pull up for the jumper with ease. She’s another two-way player on this list grabbing steals to take the other direction and rebounds on both ends.

was showing off her quickness getting to the rim and making effective cuts to score off the pass. She had some nice plays from the free throw line catching the pass, facing the basket to evaluate what she can do, and driving to the right spot to score her points. Her box outs are so tough making sure her opponent doesn’t have a chance to get the ball.

Hannah Moss has been on many radars for years with her shifty ball handles. She can take over games getting to the open spot for herself to pull up for her shot or take it all the way to the rim. She does a nice job drawing defenders around her to get the pass to her teammates, and she sees the entire floor well making the long pass up the court to get fast breaks going. She can also set herself up for an open shot from all around the perimeter.
