Expert Analysis
Robert Kelly | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
The Trojans locked up third place at state last season and, with Whetstine racking up points, have a great shot to return. Whetstine is sitting at more than 1,300 points scored and averaged 27 per game last season. She shot 29% from three point land and 77% from the line. Whetstine also contributed 6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 6.9 steals. Dangerous in transition, she handles the ball well at speed; sees the floor well; and finishes with athleticism.

Whetstine and the Trojans look to make a substantial impact in their Northeast Kansas League debut season. A 20+ points per game scorer in the Twin Valley League she concluded the 2024 season with her second TVL first team selection. Whetstine also received Sports In Kansas 1A Division I second team and KBCA and KSHSAACovered third team all-state honors. A lightly built, athletic scorer she sees the floor and finishes with either hand well. Whetstine is a dangerous three point shooter as well, able to shoot it off the pull-up and off the catch quickly and smoothly. Her vision helps her anticipate action defensively. Helping from the off side and rebounding on the weak side are abilities she does well.
