Everybody loves scorers, and while Russia had a memorable season that took them to the state finals, they did not have anybody that put up big numbers every night. But they did have a young lady who was a great leader, did score points and earned the player of the year award in a very tough Shelby County League. Hazel was a gritty player who did everything it took to win. She could knock down threes, score off the move and defend.

Francis can score in a lot of different ways, so defenders must be on their toes all game! I love her drives to the basket, because she is all guts- doesn’t matter who is in her way! The District 9 POY averaged 10.7 PPG this year. (Below with ball)

Not only did this young lady earn player of the year and her very tough conference, she led her team to the number one seed in Southwest District North in D7. Great length, outstanding shooter and can score in multiple ways. Nice defender, can force turnovers and is very athletic.

Hazel is a very agile player with excellent length. Solid wingspan and able to defend the passing lanes. Able to get to the rim and finish. Nice perimeter shot and part of a fine-tuned machine at Russia. Hazel plays the game with good intensity, and has a good basketball IQ, knowing where to be on the floor.

Hazel caught my attention last season with a solid freshman year, and she is still working on her game. She does a good job handling the ball, and is adding great defense to the team, defending the opponents best player. While her game is progressing, there is still more to work on as she looks to add to the offensive side of her game.

This baller had me sold the very first time I saw her play earlier in the tournament. Hazel has made a name for herself with solid play this season, especially in the postseason. She really came on strong and is a solid active player who works hard on the fence and can pressure the ball with her length and athletic ability. Also will knock down the perimeter shot. She can be special.
