Hilary Haaven
About Hilary
Expert Analysis
Mike Benson | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Haaven is a very talented guard. I really appreciate how hard she plays and that she can positively affect a game from multiple angles. She is her team’s primary ball-handler and press-breaker, but can also play off the ball. She is talented enough to keep space and knock down perimeter baskets. She can get downhill in a hurry and either finish at the basket or find her open teammates. She is a good jumper and rebounder for her size and surprisingly stronger and more physical than you might think. She also has a motor like few high schoolers have: she plays the entire game with no substitutions. Look for Hilary to continue improving as she grows as an athlete.

Hilary is another young player that started last season as an 8th grader. She helped lead Langdon back to the State tournament in 2025. She is a solid point guard who is very steady with the ball. She is able to initiate her team’s offense and also lead the fast-break. Hilary is a future All-Region selection and it wouldn’t surprise me if she finds herself on that list this season.

The thing that stands out the most to me about Hilary’s game is her basketball IQ. She plays with such poise, which is incredible when you realize she just finished her 8th grade year. I really like how she handles the ball. She reminds me of how John Stockton used to handle the ball, nothing too flashy but very difficult to take the ball from. She is a good athlete as well, running up the floor hard and wide. Hilary is just scratching the surface.

Hilary is another 2029 on Langdon that starts for their varsity, alongside Avery Lorenz Avery Lorenz 5'8" | SG Langdon Area-Munich | 2029 State ND . She plays with a grit and toughness that is impressive for a 29′. I liked how Hilary was able to control her body on finishes around the rim, getting baskets while getting fouled. At 5’7, she has room to grow but is very effective at the varsity level right now.
