Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Izzy led the Lions to a District championship with 19 points against the Mustangs and she kept South Lyon close throughout the Regional Semifinal vs. Hartland. Izzy buried a deep straightaway three off the dribble and added another triple from the wing. She looked like a track athlete doing a long jump when she leaped ahead of a defender to score using a pro hop. Izzy collapsed the defense with her dribble and dished long skip passes to open teammates for assists. Izzy swiped the ball away on defense and led the Lions with 16 points; I’m excited to see her compete with Bethel next season.

Izzy celebrated two milestones on the same night. She enjoyed a memorable 56-26 win against rival South Lyon East and the thrill of passing 1,000 points. The Lyons have an 11-1 record and sit atop the LVC at 8-1.

Izzy has the Lions roaring early in the season, feasting on both ends of the floor. Izzy applies relentless ball pressure to create several steals in any game and finishes smooth layups with either hand around the basket. Izzy dishes assists to teammates and drops in 3s from the perimeter. South Lyon is 4-0 with a couple of solid victories against tough opponents and Nooe is leading the charge.

Izzy is a Player of the Year candidate in the LVC and she provided more evidence at the Big Cat Basketball League on Sunday. Izzy competes in top gear baseline to baseline and she exploded by defenders for several athletic layup finishes. Izzy created steals and chased down a breakaway to force a turnover on defense. She muscled her way to score an offensive rebound layup off two feet and is a Bulldog point guard prospect who deserves a look from every NAIA/D3 school in the state.

Izzy helped South Lyon to the doorstep of a conference title in 2023 and she is the fiercest Lion on the court. Izzy has earned a reputation in the coaching world as a scrappy defender, determined downhill scorer, and clutch perimeter shooter. She has excellent ball-handling, off-loading passing skills when she drives, and a soft touch on her finishes. Izzy dives on the floor to wrestle for 50/50 balls and plays with passion. Izzy is a top point guard in the LVC and will be a conference Player of the Year candidate in 2024.

Izzy is TOUGH on the basketball court, a true competitor, a downhill slasher, and fearless. Those characteristics would make her a fantastic rugby player, especially at the scrum-half position. Izzy is an effective passer and attacker off the dribble, which is similar to the role of a scrum-half. Her danger as a passer and quickness would give defenders fit out of scrums and lineouts. Izzy has the speed/jukes to evade defenders or turn on the jets to score tries. Her balance and aggressiveness would make her lethal as a tackler and in counter rucks. Izzy has experience competing on the football field and would be exciting to see wearing #4 in Rugby Sevens.
