Riley was a breakout player last summer and fall. She made a splash at the PGH Michigan State Tournament, stood out again at Plymouth Summer League, and turned in a solid performance at the PGH Freshman Showcase. Riley is crafty with the ball in her hands, sees the floor, sets up teammates with her passes, creates space off the dribble, drives to the basket with a burst, and finishes in traffic. She’s a very aggressive and pesky defender on the perimeter who creates turnovers. Riley is a point guard to follow on Lady Ballerz 15U at the PGH MI College Tour this Saturday.

At the PGH Freshman Showcase, Riley consistently attacked the basket with skill and determination, converting several tough finishes through contact around the rim. Defensively, she was active and alert, using her quick hands to generate multiple steals and disrupt opposing offenses. Beyond her aggressive play inside, Riley showed confidence from distance by knocking down a deep three from the top of the key with smooth, consistent shooting. After her performance, she’s sure to no longer be considered an under-the-radar player.

Riley was a playmaker for Legacy at our PGH Michigan State Tournament. She kept that momentum going with South Lyon this summer. Riley competes hard and creates turnovers on the defensive end. She attacks gaps to score layups and creates space with a bag full of combination dribbles. Riley has a bright future ahead of her and we would enjoy seeing her compete again at The Freshman Showcase.

Riley showed a sign of things to come at the PGH Michigan State Tournament, and I was very impressed by how she played for South Lyon at the Plymouth Summer League. There’s no replacing Izzy, but Riley has the confidence and skills to step into a major role as a freshman. Riley took a dribble hand off hard to the basket for a layup, chased down a breakaway to deflect the ball away, and stole the ball away from behind. Rylee went right by her defender using a quick crossover to score a layup and got by again to cause a foul. She used a between-the-legs, crossover dribble combination to create separation and fired an assist in transition. Riley creates space with her dribble to drive, pass, and shoot. Her toughness and competitive determination were evident throughout the game. South Lyon has another promising point guard prospect coming through their program.

Riley ended the tournament with an exclamation point, leading Legacy 14U in the points column. She made an excellent jump pass over a defender to a cutting teammate, pressured perimeter ball-handlers, pursued rebounds on both ends, and buried a smooth elbow jumper. Riley snagged steals and created separation from defenders using shifty crossovers. She drilled a wing three off the dribble and looks like a promising guard prospect joining the South Lyon program.
