Iyana Wilson delivered another strong performance at the Texas Tip-Off, showcasing the skill set that continues to make her one of the more exciting guards in the 2027 class. The quick, crafty point guard controlled the tempo throughout the weekend, using her elite ball-handling ability and explosive first step to create opportunities for herself and her teammates.

Wilson consistently broke down defenders off the dribble, attacked gaps in the defense, and displayed excellent court vision when making reads. She proved capable of scoring from multiple levels, knocking down jumpers while also using her speed and body control to finish around the basket. Her ability to make plays in transition added another dimension to her offensive game.

Defensively, Wilson competed with intensity, applying pressure on opposing ball handlers and creating turnovers with active hands and anticipation. Her toughness, leadership, and high basketball IQ were evident throughout the event.

Despite her size, Wilson continues to play with confidence beyond her years. Her combination of playmaking, shot creation, and defensive effort makes her a prospect whose stock continues to rise as she develops.

Wilson falls into that #sizedontmatter when you can play and yes, she showed she could on the court. She also has an explosive first step to attack and score or dish off the dribble but seeing her thread the needle between defenders for assists was also a plus yet seeing her create havoc on defense was another plus

Durant’s had a memorable year with the trials they underwent, culminating in this State Tournament appearance. Unfortunately they came up short against the defending 5A champs. They’ll have a chance to make more noise in their future with a good sophomore core, featuring Wilson. She’s a quick guard, who can also hit jumpers off the dribble. Her crossover is also an ankle breaker, that had defenders on their heels throughout the contest.
