Expert Analysis
Lathan Sepeda | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Jacee Hoskins was a dominant force in the paint at the Prep Girls Hoops Texas Tip-Off, proving why she is one of the top frontcourt prospects in the 2027 class. The 6’2″ post showcased an old-school mentality with a modern skill set, impacting the game through toughness, physicality, and relentless effort. Hoskins did most of her damage around the basket, establishing deep post position, finishing through contact, and consistently creating high-percentage scoring opportunities in the painted area. Her presence alone forced defenses to adjust throughout the weekend.
What separates Hoskins from many post players is her versatility and basketball IQ. While she thrives on the block, she also demonstrated the ability to handle the basketball when needed, make smart decisions under pressure, and even stretch the floor with her shooting ability. She was an excellent passer out of the post, routinely finding cutters after setting screens and rewarding teammates who moved without the ball. Her unselfish play and court awareness helped create easy scoring opportunities for those around her.
Defensively, Hoskins was a game-changer. She controlled the paint with her rebounding, protected the rim with authority, and altered countless shots throughout the event. Her timing as a shot blocker and willingness to battle on every possession made her one of the toughest interior defenders in attendance. Whether grabbing rebounds in traffic, blocking shots, or diving for loose balls, she played with a motor that never slowed down.
More than anything, Hoskins brought toughness, leadership, and heart every time she stepped on the floor. She embraced physical play, competed on every possession, and consistently made winning plays for her team. Her ability to dominate the paint, anchor the defense, and elevate those around her made her one of the most impactful bigs at the Texas Tip-Off and a true difference-maker whenever she was on the court.

just finished up a great junior season with the Elkins Lady Elks, surpassing 1,000 career points. Now, everyone is anxious to see what the 6’2″ post star can do against club competition.
Hoskins had numerous strong performances during the 2025/26 season, including 24 points against Lincoln and 21 points versus Thaden. She had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 stocks against the rising 6A squad, Bentonville West, in December, showcasing her excellent two-way abilities.
Hoskins is an excellent post defender. She is like a magnet for the ball, being able to swat shots seemingly every time down the floor. Thanks to her frame, rebounding comes easily for her, but she is aggressive in the paint, leaving little chance for her opponents to outrebound her.

is going to be a hard player to get around this summer, so expect teams to primarily shoot from the outside against the Bruins.

Hoskins has legitimate size with good bounce on her short jumper. She will also step out and bury the three ball. Most impressive was the ball skills she showed off bringing up the ball against full-court pressure. The center is nowhere near her ceiling.
