Expert Analysis
Avi Burmenko | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Jaelynn is a true point guard who balances scoring and playmaking at a high level, consistently getting to her spots while setting up teammates. After earning all-state honors and finishing top five in the state in made threes at Moses Brown, she is now gearing up for AAU play with BCRI. She’s also coming back strong from an ACL injury and already impressed in the first live period, averaging 16 points per game on 60% shooting.

Jaelynn plays the game like a true point guard, consistently putting her teammates in position to score while also creating offense for herself when needed. She has strong footwork around the basket, allowing her to finish against taller defenders, and once she gets a step on her primary defender, she does a great job using her body to keep them on her hip and protect the ball. Jaelynn has generated interest from Patriot League, NE10, America East, MAAC, and ECC programs, and after recently returning from a torn ACL, she’s working her way back to full strength.

Perez had a bigtime year this high school season as well as having a scorching hot start to AAU. Jaelynn announced around this time, early on in summer that she was reclassing into ’27, transferring to St. George’s. Unfortunately, not too long after she suffered an injury. The bright side to things is that she has plenty of time to work herself back from this though. Perez is one of RI’s brightest point guards. Her game has evolved and this injury shouldn’t hold her back in her return. She’s a stable asset that knows how to be effective many ways.

The only ’27 member on her team, Jaelynn is a floor general that plays like a vet. She showcases primary playmaking skills as she controls the pace of the game. Perez just helped her team get an early victory at Spooky Nook vs Elevate NYBC. Eyes will be closely watching the rising star.

Perez was sensational looking over the weekend, The fresh reclass into ’27 has shown improvement in her driving attacks, showing much more deception on the move, seldomly telegraphing her next move. She’s throwing defenders off with her eyes as well as changing multiple heights to get the edge getting by those guarding her. There were some plays where she absolutely froze players in their tracks as she proceeded to advance the ball up the floor. This evident ascension in her game makes her much more of a prominent name in the class. The BCRI pg can carry a lot of the responsibility and is producing at an even higher rate.

Jaelynn has been one of RI’s top performers through the season. She’s regularly posted big numbers while leading her team to almost winning another championship. The shooting in combination with steady playmaking off the bounce make her a constant threat. Her defense has even improved over the year. Perez is starting to encroach a territory that has her with the upper-class amongst her peers, specifically at the point guard position. Jaelynn’s decision to take her talents over to St. Geroge’s has been quite the announcement locally. This’ll be a seamless fit playing with the Dragons that’ll work in her favor. She’s not headed too far, so she’ll have a chance to play in front of family and friends. Jaelynn is already a fan favorite, but many more eyes will be on her now.

The ’26 steady point guard led her team in a solid win vs Tolgate. Perez had 17 pts, 7 reb and 7 ast in the victory. Her ability to govern the tempo was well noted. Jaelynn’s ball-control along with her tempo make her a reliable facilitator. Her striking instincts are becoming more decisive and that’s a great improvement in her game. The aggressiveness opens up things for her teammates at various points in the game as defenders have trouble holding up over time. Perez is a crucial piece to this team and with performances like this, she’ll keep her team in prime position.

Jaelynn is a player with instinctual values while offering versatility running the point. She’s a great distributor that leads to winning basketball. She doesn’t always get credit for the plays she’s able to help construct. Perez is the type of player that gets a lot of “hockey assists”. A very functional facilitator that makes the right reads, regardless of the level of defense. Jaelynn plays at her pace and is rarely ever put in positions where she’s flustered. The under-controlled point is a great option as a floor general for a talented Moses Brown team that’s looking to have another statement year.
