Jaleigha Hobby came to the Northwestern State University Prospect Camp ready to compete—and left as a winner. Her toughness, composure and relentless effort helped power the black-jersey team through an undefeated run in 5-on-5 action.

Hobby plays with a calm confidence that immediately stands out. She never looks rushed or rattled, allowing the game to develop before choosing the perfect moment to attack. She gets to her spots, creates offense without forcing the action and consistently makes winning decisions.

Defensively, Hobby is an absolute problem. She applies suffocating pressure at the point of attack, uses quick feet to stay connected and refuses to give ballhandlers room to breathe. She fights through screens, disrupts passing lanes and remains active even when the ball moves away from her. Her communication, rotations and nonstop motor help raise the intensity of everyone around her.

Hobby is smooth, physical and built for competitive moments. She does not need to dominate the basketball to control the game—her defense, discipline and winning presence speak loudly. Undefeated in 5-on-5 and impactful on every possession, Hobby proved at NSU that she is the type of guard every winning team needs.

Jaleigha made her presence felt through her defensive performance at the Louisiana Expo. The 5-foot-4 point guard played with energy, toughness and a willingness to compete on every possession.

Hobby applied pressure at the point of attack, stayed active with her hands and worked to keep opposing guards from getting comfortable. Her quick feet helped her stay connected to ball handlers, while her effort allowed her to fight through screens, challenge passing lanes and remain involved when plays extended.

What stood out most was her motor. Hobby continued working even when she was away from the basketball, communicating with teammates, rotating into position and helping keep the defense organized. She embraced the defensive side of the game and showed that she was willing to handle the difficult assignments.

Hobby’s energy, discipline and competitive effort earned her a place on the Louisiana Expo All-Defensive Third Team. She brought pressure, accepted the challenge and proved she can influence a game without needing to score.
