In the past she was known known as a perimeter shooter, but at the Orange Park Christmas Classic, she flipped the script and killed the opponent with a stop and pop midrange. McCoy consistently got to her spots off the bounce. She changed direction smoothly, navigated into the paint, and punished defenders with a sweet midrange jumper and a killer float game. Even when running isolation sets, she played at her own tempo, reading defenders and punishing the opposition.

Defensively, she is a menace on the ball, constantly forcing turnovers. In transition, she is hard to stop, capable of attacking the rim, finding open teammates, and pulling up for shots on the move.

She has the leadership to help her Forest team push past last season’s regional quarterfinal loss and make a deeper run in the 6A playoffs. Finishing last season ranked 90th in Florida in three-pointers made, look for her to continue that trend this year. She is currently ranked #37 among point guards in her class and looks to move up in our next rankings.

McCoy can shoot the three with the best of them and when she heats up behind the arc, she is unstoppable on the floor. As a Junior, McCVoy averaged nearly 16 points per game and knocked down 50 threes. In the two previous years, she knocked down 81 and 82 threes, respectively. McCoy is a player to watch as she stands a chance to lead Marion county and the surrounding counties in scoring.

McCoy’s underclassmen years saw her setting records from behind the arc. McCoy averaged nearly 16 points per game and got involved in assists, rebounds, and in the steals department. McCoy is electric on the defensive end as well with the quickness to disrupt the opponent. She definitely belongs in the conversation and she is one of the best guards in the Marion – Alachua county area.

Ja’Niyah McCoy Ja’Niyah McCoy 5'5" | PG/SG Ocala Forest | 2026 State FL is a young guard to pay attention to. McCoy averaged 16.6 points (top 25 in the State- Freshman scorers) and scored 432 points. Her greatest stat might be her three-point shooting. McCoy recorded the third most threes for a Sophomore and shot an amazing 59 percent from behind the arc. McCoy is opportunistic on the defensive end of the floor as she also led her team with 55 steals last season.
