Marcus Ebow | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Tall and savvy combo guard that routinely makes the right plays for herself and teammates. Cortez has the ability to take over a game but rarely had to do so with her loaded Be Someone Elite squad. Fundamentally sound and disciplined, Cortez is poised to be a big time player as she continues to add to her game.

Cortez has also made several Tip Sheets from me see evaluations here and seeing her in a variety of settings tells me a lot about her upside. Her defense and court vision stood our, along with getting hers “in the flow” but she has also shown previously she can take games over offensively down the stretch

Cortez has also made quite a few Tip Sheets from me last year see evaluations here but here’s a big tip, her poise under pressure will have her shooting up the rankings as she continues to show “on the court” progression. Her range and “court vision” have gotten better, so has her ball ballhandling while being defended but I love her upside along with her hitting the boards on both ends

Cortez is beginning to show some “magical handles in the making” and when you factor in her crossover is a problem for defenders, which sets the stage. She saw the floor well across the board, got by the defender to score off the dribble, nice body control after contact, plus she also dropped the jumper, “catch and shoot” 3 included. She picked some pockets for steals and played the passing lane

Cortez showed me this club season that she could find ways to put the ball into the basket, yet she’s another “long and athletic” guard who gave me a variety of moves to attack and finish, starting with the HEZ to get the defender leaning. Jumper was clicking, so was her court vision, but her “on the ball” pressure looked good, and so did her timing to BLOCK shots. She played the passing lane and elevated on her jumper to drop it with a hand in her face
