Byrd flew by me at the PGH Freshman Showcase see evaluation here, yet watching her doing things more fluidly on both ends stood out. I already knew she could score as well as get teammates involved by seeing the floor, yet her first step looks even better, so do her finishes after contact. Defense was solid, and she played the passing lane

Byrd blew me away at the PGH Freshman Showcase and when you factor in she’s long and athletic, which is and always will be the base, along with she stands just shy of “the magic number” that right there will attract next-level coaches see evaluation here I also mentioned she had some scary upside because she showed me she could play a variety of positions her “on the ball” pressure looked even better, she also played the passing lane and did a good job hitting the boards on both ends

Byrd has some scary upside because she’s not only “long and athletic”, which is the base, but just shy of “the magic number”, which is 6’0. She can play multiple positions and watching her handle the ball under pressure in both the “3 on 3” and “5 on 5” and make plays, not only for herself but for her teammates, which was huge. Her court vision across the board was solid, she took the defender off the dribble and elevated to score, elevation continued with her jumper as she dropped the mid to long-range and she also hit the boards on both ends and played solid defense

Standing just shy of 6 feet and four years of high school ahead of her, the future looks scary good! Jayda plays and defends 1-5, utilizing multiple finishes, connecting on rhythmic jump shots off the bounce, and finishing through and with traffic. Jayda shoots the ball well but handles it better. She is communicative on both ends of the floor but is a block-diminishing defender.
