hit a big shot from deep, and she turned right around making a nice hustle play on defense. Hustling after loose possessions was something that continued throughout the game. She was excellent face guarding making it difficult for her opponent to get the pass. Her three point shooting was on display late in the game bringing some energy for her team.

Hicks does it all. She is fast, she changes her speed well, she can handle the basketball, and she has a smooth jump shot. Hicks can shoot it from the two or the three and drained multiple shots in this workout with her teammates. Hicks has a great feel for the game. She knows when to pass, when to score, and when to get everyone fired up. Hicks blocked a shot – out of nowhere – in a transition drill and it quickly brought up the energy level in the gym. Hicks has fantastic hops and great body control. She is a super-special senior guard.

Hicks can score. She has a smooth outside shot. Hicks can also turn the corner on her way to exploding to the rim. If her opportunity to score is taken away, Hick can also pass. She is a strong passer with vision. Additionally, she is an excellent rebounder from the guard position. Hicks crashes the offensive glass with effort.

Hicks immediately showed that she has “in the gym” range, hitting movement 3s off of screens or hitting jumpers off the bounce. Shot the ball at a 64% clip from beyond the arc this weekend, often coming in cold off the bench to immediately step into taking and making perimeter shots. Showed some moxy defensively while also adding in some secondary playmaking en route to a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio over the weekend.

Jayla Hicks is a super talented point guard with great speed. She has a smooth shot and the ability to score at the rim or from the outside. On defense, Hicks is able to disrupt the ball handler with her ball pressure and aggressiveness. She plays for the NC GBB Academy during the school season.
