Gray took the Class A State Tournament by storm by leading Canute to the title and earning MVP honors. Is already one of the most dynamic guards in the state regardless of Class. Her game is characterized by her lightning quickness, fantastic handles and savviness. Oklahoma has a long history of outstanding small school standouts and Gray is clearly next up in that regard.

There was a feeling there could be a magic to the freshman’s game when watching her on Wednesday. And she delivered that in Canute’s semifinal win. Lead them in scoring with 17 points, handed out 4 assists and forced 3 steals. The steals weren’t the only defensive impact she made. In the second half she raced back on defense in transition and took a perfect charge. The magic to her game came with her quickness and electricity off the bounce. Was too much to handle and got wherever she wanted on the court. Is now one win away from starting her high school career with Gold.

Canute is a team with good size across the board but it was Gray, often the smallest player on the court for the Trojanettes, who was the catalyst of their win. A bundle of energy, they trust her to run their offense. And for good reason, as she’s fast and quick. Scored points in bunches, finishing with 21 points. Was credited with three assists, but her ability to push the tempo and get downhill to create in the halfcourt powered the Canute offense. Exciting State Tournament debut for a very promising freshman.

A very dynamic guard that some may not know about due to location and playing AAU in Texas I will tell you that come playoff time you will know the name. I had the opportunity to watch Jaylee and her squad play in the Mustang Summer League. An impressive performance from Jaylee and her squad against the bigger schools.
A savory scorer at all the 3 levels. Quick ball handling keeps the defense guessing opening driving lanes for easy scores. Outside shooting keeps the defense honest making her a double threat with the jumper and downhill game. Outstanding vision up the floor on breaks with the long passes on point. Understands how to read the help defender on drives making good decisions on the shot or pass.

Gray’s defense stands out big! Smooth guard that plays with composure, gives little space for opponents to work their offense, and she creates 5 second violations! Jaylee’s light feet are an asset not only to her defense, but also transition game. (Below on defense)

I said on Twitter this week that Jaylee is one of my very favorite players to watch. Super active on defense. On offense she is able to draw defenders over and hook up post players with easy drop off buckets. Has a quick one motion shot.
