Spann is earning her minutes in Ruston as an underclassman by knocking down big shots. She is a traditional point guard with the IQ to manage an offense, but with a team full of upperclassmen she is used as a specialist. Spann is a big shot taker and a big shot maker. At a crucial point in Ruston’s first District game, Spann hit back-to-back triples to help seal the game. Keep an eye on Spann with or without the ball. She is a playmaker.

Ruston is in a season of resurgence and one of the reasons is Point Guard, Jayleen Spann Jayleen Spann 5'6" | PG State LA . Spann erupted for 21 points in her first game of the season. Spann is equally effective on or off the ball making her tough to control when she is on the floor. She is a physical guard that really works best after she gets bumped. That is when the hooper comes out and then it is time to sit back and enjoy the show. She can play inside or out and uses her strong frame to bully her way to the goal for and one opportunities, but it all starts at the three point line. Spann is a shooter. She is only scratching the surface of her potential and will surely cause some problems this upcoming season.

Spann is a new addition to the Ruston squad and she started earning honors in the summer at the JSE Event. She is a floor general that serves her team mates first, but if the ball comes back to her she will knock down the shot. Spann will share point guard duties this season due to her ability to direct a team, but also her knock down shooting. Today she was able to settle in and knock down some shots and let everyone know that she is ready to grow her name in Ruston. She is already a starter as a Sophomore and her name is going to be one that you hear in coaching circles around the state.
