Cauthron had big games this past weekend, including a 17 point performance on Saturday. In another Saturday game, her scoring was more muted. But she brought her energy, quickness and toughness to the table. Was mixing it up with multiple steals and she’s a handful off the bounce with her first step and amazing end to end speed. It was good to see one of Oklahoma’s most electric athletes start to fit in and standout on the national stage.

It’s not often that Douglass guards have issues containing a player off the bounce. But that’s the type of extra gear Cauthron has. It’s made even more dramatic by the springiness she has. Big time explosiveness when going up to finish. With a great second jump as well, using that trait to corral 11 rebounds. Also scored 22 points, including 10 of 13 free throw shooting. Handed out 4 assists, and the opportunities she created for teammates went well beyond the box score. Special athlete, special motor, tough way to end her junior season.

Cauthron has been a sensation since winning Class 3A as a freshman at Idabel. That has continued as she’s now over 1500 points for her career. Along with the scoring, she’s a thief on and off the ball. Super fast and quick, with the anticipation to match. Once she gets a steal, good luck trying to catch in transition. Has great handles and good feel as a passer as well. While a flashy player, her performances also translate to wins as well. With a 22-3 mark and the number two spot in the Class 4A rankings for Broken Bow.

Cauthron is a speed demon on the court. Routinely played the passing lanes and then was as good as gone for two points after the steals. Broke the game open in the first with three seals and scores, and the 2nd ranked Lady Savages never looked back in a 65-36 win over 12th ranked North Rock Creek. She’s a special kind of athlete, with change of direction ability to go along with her speed. Routinely puts defenders on skates with her quickness and handles.
Super productive player. Especially as the killer instinct she has on the court ramps up the production even more. Nearly triple doubled in the game watched, with double digits in points, rebounds and nine steals. She cleans the glass on the defensive end, which also leads to more transition opportunities. Is already over 1500 points for her career.

Speaking of dynamic guards, Cauthron helped 4A contenders Broken Bow to a 61-35 win over an Arkansas squad. Big time production with 29 points and 17 rebounds. Speedy and quick, routinely went by multiple defenders on drives in this game. Her explosiveness is unique and gives her a big edge at the high school level. Especially when paired with good perimeter shooting. Even looks athletic when shooting those, as she elevates quickly and finishes high on her jumpers.

Excitement is often the most common way to describe Cauthron. As she’s a blast to watch with her quickness, speeds, handles, vision and scoring ability. But to only consider her exciting, would be short selling her on her grit. She is unafraid to get her nose dirty on the defensive end. Hustles hard for charges and plays with an edge. The edge and quick hands also help help rack up steals and even the occasional block. One of the most complete guards in the state and it’s shocking that her recruitment hasn’t picked up more since an offer from Abilene Christian in April of 2024.

Cauthron blends fire and steel to be arguably the top defender in the Class of 2027. Hustles to spots in transition to draw charges and play fundamental defense. While also knowing when to go for home run plays by forcing steals and creating havoc. Exciting player to watch because of her outstanding offensive feel. But it often starts with her hard work on the defensive end.

Cauthron continues to be one of the most exciting players in Oklahoma. Lightning in transition, she’s also a killer in the halfcourt. Especially via dribble hand offs from Woolsey, which seem to act as a speed power up. As she would somehow look even faster while getting downhill and to the rim. Had her customary highlight reel passes with outstanding vision and accuracy. There were a couple turnovers from trying to do too much, but the overall game changing ability she brings as a scorer and creator shined the brightest.

The most electrifying player in the Class of 2027, Cauthron is a blast to watch. Her combination of elite speed and vision makes her a complete threat with the ball in her hands. Will blow by the defense for layups, or rifle a behind the back to pass an open teammate. Competitor on the defensive end. Is a hunter for steals, but will also sit and guard one on one. And will hustle at the rim to get in position to draw charges. Complete guard, who brings excitement to the game and produces in the biggest moments. Her Class 3A State Title winning performance last year is one of the best examples of that.

The southeastern Oklahoma guard is firmly in the conversation for quickest guard in Oklahoma. A blur in transition and loads of dribble moves to go by opponents in the halfcourt. Also uses her equally quick hands to rack up the steals and deflections. Wouldn’t be surprising if she has a few triple doubles before her career is over. As getting to 10 steals in a game seems very possible as she’s absolute thief on defense.
The only drawback to her game this past Monday, was her shot was completely off. Maybe it was the winter weather rust but she consistently missed good looks. Even in the mid-range, her shots were often left short. Enough previous viewings of Cauthron indicate the misses were likely an anomaly, but they were the difference between a good and great day.
