Expert Analysis
Johnny Vick | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
A combo guard from Oregon is off to a strong sophomore season after an fantastic freshman campaign Rated among the top 2027 shooters in the state of Oregon by PGH. Jenna earned honorable mention 5a as a freshman last season. A very crafty driver that uses a nice stop and go change of speed to freeze the defender getting to the rim for the finish. The crafty part comes at the finish. It is either a step through or reverse layup.
A guard that makes things happen on the defense end with blocks, deflections or steals. Check out this Oregon product.

is on track to have a very impressive basketball career at Churchill. Playing in the challenging Midwestern League in 5A, the Lancers struggled to win many, but Ayres still managed to impress with her high level of play. Ayres is an excellent outside shooter, knocking down two or three from beyond the arc in nearly all of their league games. Perhaps her most impressive scoring night, she made five 3-pointers to finish with 28 points against Thurston earlier this season. In addition to her offensive prowess, Ayres has demonstrated that she is one of her team’s top defenders, constantly making heads up plays on that end of the floor. Churchill has a large group of returners coming back next year, including Ayres, making them an exciting prospect to watch.

has been making some waves for herself as one of the best players and scorers on her team and in the class of 2027. In a recent league win over Thurston, the freshman led all scorers with 28 points, which included an incredible five made shots from beyond the arc. In the game prior to that against South Eugene, she made two triples on the way to 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, and in their most recent game, she hit three from downtown for 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in a loss to a tough Eagle Point squad. Ayres is fearless in shooting the basketball… when she catches it, her eyes go straight to the rim no matter what, just like with all the best shooters. She is also one of the Lancers’ best defenders, making heads up plays both on and off the ball that lead to easy points. Churchill already relies heavily on Ayres’s impressive play, and she will only continue to get better with age and experience.
