A solid performer on both sides of the ball. Stamper has good footwork that allows her to get good position on the low block and score. She is also effective from the hi post area as a scorer attacking the rim and as a passer off the give and go. Jocelyn makes a lot of things happen on defense because she is very active.

Joscelyn Stamper Joscelyn Stamper 6'2" | C Cherokee | 2027 State NC continues to be a defensive nightmare, and she knows how to make offensive plays run through her.  She handles the ball well attacking the basket or making the sharp pass from the free throw line.  She goes to work on the block using her quick feet and big strides to get into position to score her points.  Her ability to grab rebounds on both ends of the court is definitely an asset.

Joscelyn Stamper Joscelyn Stamper 6'2" | C Cherokee | 2027 State NC started off the scoring showing off her ability to handle the ball driving to the basket for some points.  She runs the floor well being ready for the pass in transition to score some points on fast breaks.  She was doing well grabbing rebounds on both ends of the court, too.

Following a pair of state championships at the 1A level, Stamper was another key player in Cherokee being the final assembling standing amongst this year’s 2A ranks. Stamper would add a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to what was another dominant Braves performance. Her performance on Thursday would also include a game-high six steals, five assists and five blocks – also a game-high. If the star junior had the ball in the paint, there was a good chance it would mean two more points for Cherokee. Stamper is a multi-sport athlete who also excels at volleyball and softball. 

Joscelyn Stamper Joscelyn Stamper 6'2" | C Cherokee | 2027 State NC was doing well finding her open teammates flashing to the basket.  She was constantly showing off her court vision knowing how to get the ball in the open spot for her teammate to grab.  She used her footwork to get open in the paint being ready to go to work off the pass.  She didn’t back down from having hands in her face.

A superb athlete that uses her athleticism to help her game. Defensively, she is able to guard multiple positions and alter shots. Offensively, she works extremely hard for postion and the ball. She has several quick moves in the paint that include drop steps, hook shots and turnaround jumpers. Stamper is tough on the boards too as she scores multiple points off offensive putbacks.

Every year at this event Stamper doesn’t just compete, but holds her own and often outplays some of the other best post players in the South. She did a great job sealing her defender in the post, giving her teammates a target to pass to, and met the basket on post entry passes. Once she had the ball she punished the defense with lay ups, quick half-hook shots over her shoulder, and several turnaround jump shots. Stamper is an elite athlete and used her leaping ability to get multiple offensive rebounds and putbacks in each game. She is an excellent shot blocker and rebounder. She has the size and speed to guard every position on the floor.

Joscelyn Stamper Joscelyn Stamper 6'2" | C Cherokee | 2027 State NC is sure to get double-doubles in her games with her ability to score around the rim and grab rebounds on both ends.  She can seal off opponents on the block getting the entry pass and scoring.  She also steps up running the high post finding her open teammates flashing to the basket, and she can score on multiple levels with her jumper elevating over her opponents.

Joscelyn Stamper Joscelyn Stamper 6'2" | C Cherokee | 2027 State NC got her hands in the way protecting the basket blocking shots with a quick close out and defending well on the block.  She was using offensive rebounds to score her own points on the other end.  She did a nice job rolling off her defender to get the opening shooting the midrange or from the block.  She had a nice up and under move, too, creating some space.

Last season, Stamper was in the state championship spotlight with 1A Cherokee. In the Braves’ 1A state contest against East Columbus, Stamper lifted her team to victory with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. She keeps a full athletic plate as she also competes in volleyball, softball and track and field alongside basketball. For the season, Stamper wore Cherokee’s uniform in all 30 games the Braves were involved in. Stamper posted average numbers of 10 points and 8.3 rebounds along with 2.6 steals and 1.3 blocks. Cherokee finished 2023-24 with a 29-1 record and did not drop a contest against a North Carolina team all season. The lone loss was against Choctaw Central in December.
