About Julissa

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a defenisve minded player who takes pride in locking down opponents. I belive strong defense creates opprotunities and fuels the offense. I bring intensity on defense everytime I step on the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mindset is to stay composed, read the game, and do all the dirty work without needing the spotlight. I am not affraid to take a charge, dive for a loose ball, or guard the toughest match up.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I play AAU for NB SURGE located in New Braunfels, TX. I am also appart of NHS, International Honor Society for high school journalists, and Leadership Summit.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a three year letterman and Co-Captain of my high school team, I've developed a steady, encouraging smile that helps keep my teammates grounded and motivated. I've learned that leadership isn't just about being vocal, but about leading by example example. I also like to stay positive and calm under pressure and always showing up for my team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I have faced a significant challange early in my junior season. I was injured and told I wouldn't be able to play for the rest of the year. It was tough mentally and phyiscally, but I stayed focused on recovery. I was blessed to be able to come back and play for the last game of the season. It reminded me of how much I love the game, and honestly its allowed me to come back stronger.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that offers a storng program in sports journalism as thats the major I want to pursue. Along with that I would love to find a school with a great basketball community where I can stay involved with the sport. Also a positive supportive campus environment.
