Boss had a huge freshman year. After racking up more than 550 points and reaching the 3A state tournament Boss was named first team all-state by KBCA, KSHSAACovered and SIK; non-senior player of the year by SIK and first team Flint Hills League. She also picked up a 3A state javelin championship. The swift and athletic shooting guard has a scorer’s mindset to finish through contact and a very quick first step. She also is a dangerous perimeter shooter. That alone spells trouble but add the fact that she has solid size and good length and you have an instant match-up problem. Nearly everybody in the rotation returns so I regard the Indians as a favorite to return to the state tournament.

Let me start by being clear, the writing on the wall is that Boss should be headed to college to play basketball. However, she is a solid volleyball prospect, and her older sister will be competing for a Division I track and field team. You just never know. I watched Boss last winter, and she completely dominated a game, scoring and on the boards. I saw Osage City play in September, and Boss had a solid match. In 53 sets played, she has already surpassed her freshman season kill numbers. She finished with 149 last season and has already recorded 165 list fall. She is ranked No. 6 overall by PGH Kansas and is a solid candidate to average a double-double during her upcoming sophomore hardwood season.

Boss had one of the most impressive freshman seasons I can remember in Kansas. She can score from all over the court, is willing to rebound, and enjoys playing defense. She is ranked No. 3 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028. She has a competitive drive and an infectious energy on the court. I hope I get to see “The Squirrel” every year she plays ball, just to see how she continues to grow and evolve.

Boss is a athletic, fast shooting guard with strong handles and good size. Finishing with 16 of the Indians’s 31 points in their 3A state tournament quarterfinal loss to Colby she used her aggressiveness and quickness with the ball to attack defenders off the bounce. She got to the line, sinking 5/6 free throws and shot the three ball with range. She struggled against Colby’s defense, especially while the Trojans quickly turned the game into a blow-out in the second half. She had a tendency to whirl right when challenged. And during that stretch she consistently faced help who read that. The Trojans destroyed Osage City on the glass (43-20 with

#23 Freshman guard with size and high potential. At now, 5’10 has no problem playing point and has no problem playing as a primary scoring option on the wing. She is already the best player on her Osage City Indians squad and has a solid overall feel for the game. She had a lot on her shoulders this year against some premier senior-led 3A teams, but it feels as though it will mold her and not break her for the years to come. Plays all 32 minutes and competes on both ends.
