Gonzales’s leadership took a step up this season for Mesquite as did her offensive game. She has always been good at creating for her teammates, but she gained more confidence in her ability to score. Her defense also improved as she became even more of a presence with her on-the-ball defense.

Gonzales ran the point beautifully. She handled the pressure defense pretty much easily and evenly distributed the ball to her teammates to keep the defense guessing. She also found time get herself some buckets. Kahlia played scrappy defense, making ball handlers uncomfortable.

Kahlia is a coach’s kid so it should be no surprise to see her on this or any list. She plays with excellent pace and makes smart passes. Her feel for the game allows her to place passes just where her teammates need them to get good looks.
