is best described as a point forward, a versatile and impactful player who combines the traditional responsibilities of a forward with the playmaking and ball-handling duties typically associated with a point guard. This unique role allows her to initiate offense, orchestrate plays from various positions on the floor, and facilitate for her teammates, all while possessing the size and strength to operate closer to the basket.
Her ability to handle the ball, drive, and distribute with precision makes her a difficult matchup for opposing defenses. Whether she’s bringing the ball upcourt, running the pick-and-roll, or delivering sharp passes from the high post, Kaliyah’s comprehensive skill set enables her to be a primary offensive hub and a key facilitator

has fantastic positioning in the post and can finish through contact like a pro. She creates second-chance points with her offensive rebounding and runs the floor really well in transition. At Marsh Madness, she averaged an impressive 21 points and 9 rebounds!

Samuels was absolutely unstoppable on the low block. Opponents had no answers against her on the boards. Keeping it simple, I saw Samuels score repeatedly using a classic drop step to the basket on the low block. Her ability to “sit on her man” and hold positioning until receiving the ball was extremely consistent. Outside of the paint, Samuels will step out and shoot the three. Samuels played the majority of the game, dominated inside yet she was not a liability getting down the court. Great upside for a big.

will be a stock riser. She was one of the top scorers in the whole showcase. Samuels consistently hits the three pointer and is automatic in the midrange. When she was forced off the three point line she dominated in the post.

Samuels is powerful around the basket, well, that’s an understatement because she’s fearless and goes after everything, not only off the rim but loose balls included. Her interior defense was solid yet she also showed me she could step outside of the paint and apply pressure, in the set as well as full court. Her first step is nice, so is her body control as she not only attacked from multiple angles, she finished strongly after contact and when you factor in her upside …

Of the freshies I’ve seen thus far I would have thought production wise Miss Samuels would have low numbers seeing as though she’s on a team full of college prospects. Man was I wrong as the 6ft wing is averaging 10.2 ppg and 7.3 boards per game early on in her freshman campaign for one of the states top teams in the Lafayette Christian Lady Knights. Versatility has been a big part of her early success being able to play inside and outside!
