About Kamara
Expert Analysis
Preston Edwards | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
One of the best defenders in her class. Effit can protect the rim and has terrific timing when it comes to blocking shots. Pounding the offensive boards is something she does very well. Kamara has double-double ability on a nightly basis.

When it comes to being a paint and rim defender, there is no player better in Caddo. Effit usually helps her team get into transition situations by blocking a shot or rebounding the ball. Kamara is a rebounding machine who understands how to run rim-to-rim. She usually posts early and when she catches the ball, she scores it more times than not. Her defensive abilities are ahead of her offense. At her height however, that is okay.

is a strong paint presence. She finishes well inside. Kamara excels at grabbing rebounds on both ends of the court. She is a great rim protector as she blocks several shots a game.

6’1 with a strong frame. Her strength makes her hard to guard as she moves well in the paint. When she cuts to the high post, low block or really all around the paint her presence is felt. Her established presence inside gives the rest of her team more flexibility to score on the perimeter. Effit consistently keeps the ball high and is a problem for opposing teams on the offensive glass.

A high ceiling prospect, Effit has excelled as a shot blocker and rim runner. She showed great timing with her long arms swatting everything on Sunday morning. She also kept many of swatted shots alive, allowing herself to grab the loose ball and fully end the offensive threat. On offense, her touch was soft around the rim. But her footwork remains very raw on post ups, being called for a travel each game. Continuing to work on her footwork and becoming smoother laterally are a key next step for the 2025 center. Still with her combination of height, wingspan and rim protection abilities, Effit has a very promising future.

Effit is “long and athletic” which is always a PLUS because that is the BASE. Watching her go AFTA everything off the rim immediately grabbed my attention yet her timing and going after the ball in the air to block shots helped keep it. She did a good job of scoring and defending inside the paint, she also did something I don’t see as much as I should and that was “follows her shot” so let me drop #THROWBACK like she did shots

Long and agile Kamara was a rebounding machine at the Fab 50 on both ends of the court. While she didn’t score it much she made her impact rebounding running the floor and blocking multiple shots on the day. Her best basketball is ahead of her a very intriguing prospect to say the least! Curious to see how it plays out for her with an expanded role at Southwood High this year!
