About Kate

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have good overall court vision and a good team player. I am always able to thread that tight pass to a teammate. I have a great 3-point shot.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a supportive teammate and hard worker. I’m the kid who touches every line on suicide because I don’t want to cheat myself out of the extra work. I pay attention to areas that need improvement and put in the work to try and fix them.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I just started 9th grade and tried out and made our girls flag football team. I’m interested in running a business someday, and my school has a coffee shop that students can volunteer at, which I am very excited to start. In 8th grade I was awarded the extra effort award in science and made the all A honor roll throughout 8th grade.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I make bags for homeless people and keep them in my parents cars so we can hand them out when we see people in need. I volunteer at my church and also with my school and AAU team to help out my community.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I am dyslexic and this has posed significant challenges for me. I went through specific tutoring to help with the technical components of reading but there are still things I need to work on every day to translate things into a mode my brain can understand.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to attend a school that will help me succeed academically and in basketball. Well I love basketball and would love to turn it into a career, I realize not many get that opportunity so I want to make sure I have something to fall back on. I think I can fit in both larger and smaller schools and haven’t narrowed down any specifics yet.
