An athletic lead guard prospect, Harviston was a game changer on the defensive end. She helped seal the game in the second half, where at the of the zone she tipped a pass to herself, then was off to the races. Where she finished through contact and drained the free throw to make it a 7 point lead, that the Lady Longhorns would extend from there. The senior is a fluid and efficient scorer, who’s athleticism and strength with the ball allows her to finish well around the rim. And even make athletic putbacks. Teaming with her sister Karlee, they provided Dover a huge edge on the defensive end. While also having the ability to earn the tough points around the rim.

Katelyn tagged me in a tweet back in mid-December when she had a 25 point night against the Dover Longhorns. The highlight reel is truly magnificent. It’s clear to see why she and her sister both hit the 1,000 point mark this month. She has a beautiful jump shot, but more than that, she battles hard for everything. We see her diving on the ground for loose balls. Fighting off several opponents to get a rebound and a putback. She is a tough player who is long, tall, and strong. I hope Katelyn has a lot of scholarship offers. I don’t know, honestly. But, if not… what are we even doing? She is a tremendous player and needs to be playing somewhere come next season!

Katelyn really makes her name with her tough defense. She was always around the ball for her Lynx squad that went undefeated on Saturday. She swatted more than her share of shots and collected a lot of rebounds on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she showed the ability to get to the rim in a hurry. In what often seemed like two steps, Katelyn was finishing with either hand in tremendous ways. She racked up the stats in all three offensive categories and managed to stand out on a loaded team. I’m looking forward to catching a Dover Longhorns game once this high school season tips off!
