Grant has joined Greenwood’s 1,000 point club this season. She has really been dominating so far in her senior year and is currently averaging a double-double of 16.5 PPG and 12.2 RPG. Her 12.2 rebounds a game would put her at 5th on the state’s rebounding leaderboard. Grant is really tough and her post moves around the basket are hard to stop. Her 58.6% field goal percentage is also one of the best in the state.

Grant is so strong and has the ability to move defenders down low. She makes great moves around the basket and she finishes strong. She can finish on both sides of the rim and she can handle a lot of contact. Grant was also making strong drives to the basket and had some excellent outlet passes. She was making the offense work really hard as a defender and did a great job grabbing rebounds as soon as they came off of the rim. I want to note that Grant is not actually the player pictured here.

Kayla took the summer off from AAU to work on her game and upgrade her overall skill level and it paid off well for her thus far. Grant still plays the game super hard and with a bit of a mean streak but she has shown much better finishing ability than in the past and a greatly improved handle. Look for Kayla to be an impact performer in the 4th region in her Senior season and a likely double double each night out.

Grant is the daughter of Western Kentucky Men’s assistant coach Marcus Grant and he told me before camp that Kayla took the summer off from AAU to work on her skill level. It showed on Saturday as she played much more like a wing than a post. Her college position should be in the post but Kayla can still get to the block and score over either shoulder when she needs to.
