Thornton was another huge surprise for me at the Sandra Meadows Classic see evaluation here because here’s the deal: she also has that formula next-level coaches love, “long and athletic” and stands above “the magic number,” and when those two things are combined, you’re on your way, depending on intangibles. Thornton gave me an eyeful off the top because her energy level falls into that “never takes a play off” group, and seeing her go AFTA everything off the rim as well as come from out of nowhere to block shots dropped the mic. Yeah, she’s “long and athletic,” which will always be the base, and she stands above “the magic number” but she scored off the dribble, explosive first step, played solid defense both inside and outside the paint, good upside
