Kelbie averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds per game with shooting splits of 43/40/75 as a freshman for the Lady Vikings, quickly establishing herself as one of the top young players in the 16th Region. I’ve watched her on multiple occasions during the travel season and walked away impressed every time. Kelbie has a strong, sturdy frame and competes hard on both ends. She has tremendous defensive instincts, often coming up with steals and creating transition opportunities. She’s tough to stop once she gets downhill in the open floor and has the ability to heat up from beyond the arc as a streaky shoot. Kelbie has great upside and is definitely one to keep an eye on moving forward.

Kelbie Ford has put together a very good freshman season and is continuing the “Ford” legacy in a big way for Rowan County, averaging 14 points and 5 rebounds per game. Getting this type of production from their young star, combined with an experienced senior scorer and solid bench play could put the Vikings in position to make a deep run.

Ford comes from a basketball family. Her older sister, Haven, is a former Miss Kentucky Basketball from last year and is entering her sophomore season at Murray State. The younger Ford put together an impressive eighth grade season at Rowan County. She averaged 11.8 points last season for the Vikings. Ford will give a team worthwhile minutes either as a one or a two in the backcourt. She knows how to display her accuracy from behind the 3-point arc and can collect steals as a defender. Ford understands the art of putting points on the scoreboard from virtually anywhere on the floor and shows this with her rim attacking abilities and in the midrange game.
