She is underrated and under-recruited by the amount of talent she packs into a gym. She has an extremely hard-working work ethic, and she will go the distance for her teammates and coaches.

This weekend, Kelyn was getting after it during the clinic. Hitting key shots during competition and going after loose balls, and keeping pressure on her opponents on defense. Kelyn is a team player, too, and a leader on the court. She isn’t afraid to be patient and make the extra pass. But don’t give her an inch, or she will light you up from the outside! Keep up the great work, Kelyn, this is your yea,r and I know you’re going places!

She’s having a truly incredible off season and dominating at every event opportunity she competes in. There are those that come out to participate and then there are those that show up to compete. Kelyn is always amongst the top performers in the gym and she always shows up to compete.
Kelyn is best known for her ability to knock down shots under pressure. She’s so exciting to watch because she always finds a way to dig deep and rise to the challenge. That’s just what she did this past weekend at Gems in the Gym, she rose to the top and won the hot shot competition. She scored an impressive 24 points and was on fire against her competition. There’s no doubt this will be Kelyn’s breakout year as a senior at Benson and what an exciting year it will be to watch.

Kelyn Johnson Kelyn Johnson 5'11" | SG/CG Benson | 2026 State OR is a standout guard from Benson High School. She has a quick, sharp-shooter mentality that’s earned her the nickname “Killa” on the court. She will leave her opponents scrambling to stop her knockdown shots.

Kelyn shone at this weekend’s showcase by being aggressive in the 5v5 game and scoring a lot of points at the rim. She was making it rain on a sunny day in the 3-point competition. She scored an impressive 13 threes in a minute of time, earning her 2nd place in the contest.

Kelyn is a hard worker with a quiet yet tenacious demeanor. She has a huge heart and a strong willingness to help her teammates succeed. She’s always smiling off the court but has tenacious grit during gameplay.

Kelyn has been working extremely hard in the off-season and traveling with her ML20 program. Her goals this season are to help Benson get far in the state playoffs. Be on the lookout for this rising star. She will definitely shine this next season and claim a spot in the community’s top talents.

The 5-foot-10 guard takes care of the ball, plays tough defense, and scores in transition. Johnson averaged 8.4 points (shooting 43% from the field and 34% from three), 3.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.5 assists (1.3 assist/turnover ratio) per game and earned a Portland Interscholastic League Honorable Mention. Her initial spot in the Prep Girls Hoops Oregon class of 2026 rankings is No. 20.
