About Ke’Myia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as fast, aggressive, and versatile. As a combo guard, I can score from the three-point line, mid-range, and at the rim, but I also pride myself on creating opportunities for my teammates. I like to push the pace and take advantage of transition opportunities. Defensively, I'm quick, active, and not afraid to guard bigger players. I play with confidence and energy

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

On the court, I’m an energy giver, a communicator, and an aggressor. I love to hustle and bring intensity to every play. I know my game thrives when I communicate, so I challenge myself to talk every game to help my teammates stay locked in. I believe energy and effort are non-negotiable. Off the court, I’m friendly, and connects well with others. But when it's game time, I lock in completely.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m actively involved in the Student Government Association (SGA) at my school. We organize meetings with the Board of Education, run fundraisers, and assist with student body issues for our students. I work hard to balance academics with rewarding experiences. I’m also a member of the NAACP in my community.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed leadership and a strong sense of community through my involvement in church, youth basketball, school service programs. I volunteer with local Little League basketball to help younger kids learn the game. I also support the Hungry Heroes program at my school, where we pack food bags every Friday for less fortunate students and families.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is balancing life as a student-athlete. Managing my grades while staying focused on basketball can be mentally draining at times. There are days when I’m overwhelmed by homework, practice, and studying. But I’ve learned to pause, take deep breaths, and keep pushing. Whenever I feel like giving up, I think about my parents.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college that offers a strong balance between academics and athletics a place where I can grow both as a student and an athlete. I want a program that values player development, team culture, and accountability. Ideally, I’d like to be part of a team where coaches are invested in helping players reach their full potential, and where there’s a strong sense of family and support.

Ke’Myia Young is a freshman at Washington County High School. In her last game, she scored 24 points in a huge win over North Edgecombe High School. Young scored from the field and drained 12 shots from the foul line. She can score from any spot on the floor, and Young is also a strong defender. She is averaging over 3 picks per game. Additionally, she is a fierce rebounder. This season, she is collecting over 7 rebounds per game.
