About Kensley
Expert Analysis

Feltner has had one of the most impressive high school careers this state has seen. This season, she became the 4th player in KHSAA girl’s basketball history to eclipse the 4,000 career point mark. She is a finalist for the 2023 Miss Kentucky Basketball award after finishing as the state’s leading scorer the past two seasons. Feltner’s stats are beyond impressive, but the stuff that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet is what makes her particularly special. She is an excellent leader who acts as a coach on the floor. She is very vocal and she is constantly getting her teammates involved. Feltner will be a big addition to Belmont’s team next season.

One of the best scorers to come through Kentucky in the last decade or so. Kensley has “in the gym” range on her jumper and has lifted Lawrence County to Rupp for the first time.

Feltner was beyond impressive in Lawrence County’s win. Not only did her play stand out, but her leadership really caught my eye as she was constantly talking to her teammates. You don’t have to question how hard she plays or the effort she’s giving. She had 2-4 players hanging on her a lot of times when she was going up with the shot and she still found ways to finish. Feltner is also very unselfish and made some great plays for her teammates. She finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.

Kensley is leading the state in scoring by almost 4 points per game. She’s leading the state in field goal percentage and is top 50 in rebounds. So why isn’t she the favorite? This is only my opinion but Rowan is constantly promoting Haven while you don’t hear as much about Kensley. Rowan also beat Lawrence County last week head to head. And that’s the sort of stuff that sways voters. Either would be a great addition to the Miss Basketball lineage.

Feltner is one of the top players in the state and by far one of the toughest to stop from scoring. Teams do their best to keep her off of the boards and to keep her from scoring, but when you catch her live, those game plans seem to go out of the window. When she gets the ball, she can knock down jump shots or finish at the rim. A lot of teams will foul Feltner to try to keep her from scoring, but she can knock down free throws at a high percentage as well. Her team fell short in the 1st round, losing a close one in overtime to a Rowan County team that ended up making it to the Championship. However, Feltner did all she could to give her team a chance, finishing with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal.

Feltner is no stranger to hitting milestones, but it feels like she’s been able to add more and more to her already impressive resume this season. She became her school’s all-time leading scorer for boys or girls basketball this season and currently stands at 7th on Kentucky’s all-time state scoring leaderboard with 3,577 career points. After finishing last season as the state’s leading scorer, she has remained in the top 3 all season long and is currently averaging 28.5 PPG.

Feltner is currently the state’s 2nd leading scorer at 28.2 PPG. She’s used to finding herself at the top of this leaderboard as she actually finished her junior season in the top spot. She can really put the ball in the basket at a high level. She’s really hard to guard because of her ability to make things happen inside and out. You have to respect her no matter where she is on the floor, but the second you slip up, she makes you pay. Feltner also has the 2nd best field goal percentage in the state at 66.7% and she is top 31 in both rebounds (9.6 RPG) and free throws (75.3%).

Feltner is not only her team’s leading returning scorer, but she is the entire state’s leading returning scorer after averaging 26.9 ppg last season. With her numbers and overall talent, there is no doubts that she will be in the consideration for the Miss Kentucky Basketball award at the end of this season. Feltner can get buckets on anyone and she’s proven that time and time again. And she’s done it at a really high level as well. She attempted a lot of field goals last season (609 to be exact), and still managed to have one of the higher field goal percentages around (53.2% overall). The Belmont commit is likely going to average a double-double this season and her career numbers are going to be some of the most impressive ones you can find by the end of this season.
