One of my favorite players I’ve come across over the past couple of months simply because of how natural and easy Nelson moves throughout the game. She’s uber athletic, and she knows how to use it and when to use it. Whether it’s getting out in transition, making a play on the defensive end, or simply covering ground that most players can’t, the athleticism jumps out immediately. She’s consistently showing her ability to play at the next level, and even with her current skill set, she can be scouted as a high tier 3&D wing. As she continues to add pieces to her offensive game, her stock will only continue to rise.

The Oshkosh native is a player who can use her physical tools to swing any game she plays in. Nelson is an excellent athlete with the athleticism and physicality to defend multiple positions and wreck a game defensively. I also believe she’s a more well-rounded offensive piece than many probably give her credit for. I’ve seen her create for others and get to her spots. Her shot has improved over the past two years, and looks better than the high school numbers would suggest.

The Oshkosh native has all the physical tools to change a game on either end of the floor. Nelson is an athletic player who excels in playing high-possession games and has steadily improved on the offensive end of the floor. She has shown that she can create offensively and get her teammates involved as a passer, which may be where the most growth in her game has come. She is a player to track throughout the grassroots season.

Nelson was one of those players who made you stop and watch a little longer. The athleticism jumps out right away, and there were multiple moments over the weekend where she attacked the rim with no care for who was waiting in the paint. She’s strong, explosive, and I’m not even sure she knows how athletic she truly is yet. Outside of that, she can score in different ways and has enough confidence as a playmaker to attempt some of the risky passes others may not try. The decision making will keep getting better with time, but the talent is there. As she continues to develop and the game keeps slowing down for her, Nelson is definitely a player to keep track of.

Nelson doesn’t play at a school that wants to compete in track meets with teams in the FVA because that’s a game they won’t win often. They want to grind games out more than any other team in their conference, which is okay, but Nelson just won’t pop as much as she will in the AAU season. She has all the athletic tools that would suggest she could be an excellent defensive prospect at the next level, and she’s shown flashes of what she could be as an offensive player at the next level. She has been a creator off the dribble for her team at times and has made plays for others. I also believe that she is a better shooter than she has shown at the high school level, and with some work, can be a respectable shooter at the next level.

The Oshkosh native is an excellent athlete who has shown flashes of brilliance on both ends of the floor. Nelson is as fast as anyone you’ll see on a basketball court in Wisconsin, and she may not be close to her ceiling, but she makes plays that will catch anyone’s attention. Once you see the potential she has, you can’t unsee it.

The draw for Nelson is her athleticism. The 5’10 Oshkosh native is an explosive kid who can make things happen on both ends of the floor in a heartbeat. The Wildcats are traditionally a solid defensive unit, and they were this season with new pieces, including Nelson. The 5’10 wing may be the next linchpin for the Wildcats defense. Her length, lateral quickness, and ability to outperform her opposition will help her pass the eye test whenever a coach at the next level sees her. She has plenty of room to grow but has the athletic tools most kids don’t have.

Athletically, Nelson may be one of the best in her class. She’s as explosive as they come. Oshkosh West is slowly bleeding her into the rotation and getting more time as she gets more comfortable, but when she’s in a groove, she can be a handful. In one of her first games against KM, Nelson was the engine that got the Wildcats back into the game after they faced a 20-point deficit. She was better than the best athlete the Lasers have for an and-one finish that opened my eyes quickly. There’s something there in her to work with. Time may prove that I’m underestimating her.
