Had an EXCELLENT game #1 at Beast of the East.  Her 11 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steal was phenomenal.  Her ability to impact a game on so many levels without scoring, it’s proof positive that she’s a next level player.  Her work ethic tells me she will learn to become a better shooter, but I’m not sure you can every learn to do other things on the floor that she does.

She did score 12 points in game two…..just FYI….she can score.

West continues to do what she’s always done:  makes those around her better.  Her numbers aren’t eye-popping, but if you know the game, you know her value isn’t in the stats.  The assists are nice (about 5 a game), and her ability to score 9-12 points a game is helpful, but its her ability the play with an infectious spirit and energy that makes her special.

I LOVE her game, and I want her to be more aggressive offensively.  Her skill set is there…but at times can try to facilitate with the easy passes  sometimes too much instead of trying to attack and collapse the D.

I’ve coached pass first PGs that I had to try to understand that you MUST be a threat to score in order to help your teammates flourish.  It’s a bit of a paradox at times, but even the most unselfish players gotta be a little selfish in order to make the defense respect the whole floor.

When she does get aggressive attacking the rim (and she did it well in the 2^nd half), it opens up the game for her team.  Plus, her float game, mid range game is NICE! She’s a college level guard no doubt.

I have a special group of point guards that I love watching because they play the point position exactly like it is supposed to be played! Kyndra West Kyndra West 5'6" | PG Hardin Valley Academy | 2025 State TN is in that group with the elite PG’s! I’ve touched base on Kyndra numerous times now, & she is deserving of every piece of exposure! Steve Nash once said, “I’ve always wanted to shoot a good percentage for my team, because I’m the point guard, and I can take fewer shots, still score more, so that I can get my teammates feeling good about themselves.” West is an example of this and so much more! She shoots it at a high percentage, and even though she is so efficient and consistent, she will always make the extra pass! If I am a college coach, I am fighting hard for this athlete to be on my team!

I really enjoyed Kyndra West Kyndra West 5'6" | PG Hardin Valley Academy | 2025 State TN ‘s game vs B Maze  Elite Orange.  In ETA’s 66-39 win, West had 8 assists!  After following her game for a couple years now, it’s just obvious:  she’s got old-school PG in her DNA.  She’s always thinking about how to impact a game through distributing the ball to her teammates.  While she only scored 4….I’m convinced that she’s just in that old-school Steve Nash model.  She derives joy in delivering assists.  As her senior year approaches though…Hardin Valley is going to need her to be a scorer as well.

She’s a collegiate PG.  But what level PG she becomes will be dependent on her ability to balance her wish to distribute with her team’s need for her to score. She’s a better scorer than she’s shown, and Coach Vez and said it himself.  In 2024 that’s a nice problem to have–a PG that is a great passer and good scorer, that is probably a bit too unselfish.

Kyndra West Kyndra West 5'6" | PG Hardin Valley Academy | 2025 State TN – she’s the glue to our team as she gets everyone involved! One of the most unselfish pgs you’ll see! The coach/connection has grown and the understanding is there of what I want for the team. She has improved her mid range and out side shot.. I look for her up exploit a bunch of mis matches this summer.

West truly had a phenomenal season! Kyndra is a natural leader that plays the point guard position the right way! The young HVA squad needed every ounce of her leadership too! Kyndra averaged 13.7 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game! She has 944 total career points now. 944 career points for a pass-first point guard? Yes, you read that right. West has one of the nicest shots too and can definitely get a bucket whenever needed! In a time where we watch so many athletes throw up bad shots, you don’t have to worry about that with West. One of the best guards with the greatest shot selection! You have to watch Kyndra on the court to truly appreciate what she does. In my opinion, she is the Jason Kidd of high school girl’s basketball!
