Campbellsville signee Lainey Johnson Lainey Johnson 6'0" | SG Anderson County | 2025 State KY put on a show in the opening round of the 8th Region Tournament, erupting for a game-high 28 points. She also ripped away 4 rebounds and shot an efficient 12/18 from the field to lead Anderson County to victory against Oldham County in convincing fashion 61-32. The Lady Bearcats will take on a battle-tested Simon Kenton squad in the semis tonight at 8 PM at Henry County.

The 6’0″ guard will be playing on Kentucky Premier ‘s 17U EYBL team this year after a strong summer on their 16U EYBL team last year. It’s safe to say that Johnson can really put the ball in the basket. In her junior season at Anderson County, a lot of opposing teams put an emphasis on shutting her down. In return, she averaged 19.1 PPG and 6.6 RPG, both of which are team-highs, while helping lead her team to a 32-3 record. Johnson found ways to score despite constantly facing double-teams and being face guarded. Her scoring was critical to her team’s success, but she can do much more than score and I think coaches will be impressed by her ball handling and passing this summer.

3pt-specialist with incredible range, a pretty shooting form and quick release. Highly regarded as one of the top shooters in Kentucky. Johnson led Anderson County in scoring with 22.2PPG and rebounds with 7.7RPG helping them finish 26-7 on the season. Johnson had to play such a big role for her team this past season. She was a vital part of Anderson County’s team last season, but she was playing alongside some of the best players in the state, including the 2022 Miss Kentucky Basketball winner. Fast forward to her sophomore year and she showed that she is one of the best players in the state herself. When her team needed someone to take over the majority of their scoring, she stepped up. In fact, Johnson averaged 22.4 PPG which was top 15 on the state’s leaderboards. She also led her team in rebounding (7.8 RPG) and three-point shooting (38%). Her 2.9 made 3-pointers per game was also top 15 on the state’s leaderboards. Johnson is a high-level prospect that has already garnered D-I offers and interest.

Johnson was also impressive in all aspects. She made great drives to the basket and she knocked down shots. She not only hit shots, but she created some great looks off of the dribble, including nailing some step backs. She makes plays for her teammates as well, especially when help steps over on her drives. Johnson plays like a veteran despite only being a sophomore. She has a ton of career left, but she’s already got a huge game. She finished the game with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block.
