About Laney

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

ery similar in both of my main sports. Basketball I am and Point Guard, Soccer I am Center Midfielder. I find myself controlling the game and running the show. Always looking to make plays that lead to goals or scoring opportunities for my team. I play fast and aggressive but also very controlled.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality going into everything is to work hard but also have fun. As a kid still, I think it’s important to have fun with everything you do but also do your best! As many of my teachers and friends say, I’m a very hard working, sweet, and respectful girl. I’m also a chill kind of person. I don’t look to deep into things and I just look to enjoy everything I do.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Aside from Sports, I do girls scouts. I’ve been in Girl Scouts for a very long time now. I’m at the cadette level and am working to finish my silver award project soon. In school, I was apart of the student council. I was the homeroom rep liaison for 8th grade. As the liaison you had to make sure all of the homeroom reps in the student council knew all information and answer there questions.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve been around a lot of different players playing multiple sports over the years. I’ve learned that “trusting the process” is a legitimate “Thing”. Many are always quick to jump if things are always going their way and I’ve found if you stay positive and put the work in everything finds it’s way to work out.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In the last few years it has been a little rough staying healthy. Two years back, although still young I had this edge to me and then I broke my ankle. I was out some months and then worked hard to get back. While almost back, I broke my other ankle and was set back again. Once again I came back but this time it seemed even harder as my position was filled and I found myself as a non starter.

What type of college are you looking for?

The type of college that I’m looking to go to is one where I can be close to my family, play sports, have a great education, and overall have a great experience there.
