Expert Analysis
Brandon Tinnon | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
A unique ball player who doesn’t let her height to define her abilities. The way she impacts the game is second to none. Not a traditional big, this kid can stretch the floor, exploit the mid-range, or use her body to own the low post. She has solid handles and can elevate over opponents. She’s a bucket getter, someone who is always a tough outing. A Power talent that is going to be impactful wherever she goes.

Lauren is actually one spot ahead of Marley in the state rankings in Tennessee, but they are both power five big-time prospects. Got to see her when she was in like sixth or seventh grade at a PGH event in Indiana. She was great then, she is unstoppable now. Our other writer, Angie has seen her a ton and loves her skillset. Athletic, can create her shot, score inside or out and loves to run the floor.

From a young age, she has been special. She wasn’t pigeon-holed into just going down low because you are tall. She developed other skills to become more versatile. This kid can score by taking someone off the dribble, face-up, and can just score it from all 3 levels. She just finds a way to put the ball in the net. Defensively, she can switch onto a guard, block shots, rebounding effectively. She’s not just a big, but a total package that is truly impactful. Has all around game that will translate to a power 4 school at the next level.

Every time I see Lauren and her parents, it’s hard not to think of the idiom, “Two Peas in a Pod”, or in their case, “Three”! Both mom and dad were outstanding players in college (Austin Peay). Dad played in the NBA. And Lauren has all the dominate skills, agility, IQ, fill in any blank! I don’t think there’s anything she can’t do! Lauren is IT. Her humble heart and how she leads makes her shine like a sun!

Lauren showed why she was given the Defensive Standout Award recipient with her dominance in the paint and overall two-way presence. She controlled the glass, blocked shots, and anchored her team defensively. Offensively, she handled the ball confidently and even crossed up defenders when brining it up the court. Hassell used a smooth spin move to create a baseline jumper that showed off her deep bag as a forward. Her combination of size, mobility, and poise made her one of the most impactful interior players at this camp.

Talk about an impactful difference maker, this kid is one of the most unique players around. A big who can do all things, and when I say all things, I am truly saying all things with emphasis. She can score the rock multiple ways, handle the ball in transition, be an elite defender at stopping her girl, blocking shots, and rebounding the basketball. This young lady has been playing at such a high level for years, and teams are clamouring for her commitment. She has narrowed it down to the following schools: UCONN, Vanderbilt, Maryland, Illinois, North Carolina, Providence, Baylor, Louisville, Clemson, Alabama, Duke, and Rutgers. Whoever gets this young lady will be making multiple title runs for years to come.

This highly-touted kid will commit to a P4 school soon, but I will say that every season, she adds something to her bag. I have always been impressed by how she can handle the rock as a big player and get up and down in the transition game. She can play along the perimeter or dominate the inside. She contributes on the boards, and her ability to block shots is crazy good. This season, she will be looking to fine-tune a lot of her skills as her club is on a quest to grab a championship. She is going to be a nice pick up for a program at the next level. Hard-working kid who gets after it.

Moves like a pro on the block, love her drives from the top of the key, rarely given an easy shot- always contested, often double teamed with contact. She leads by example, and one of the most respectful players- both on and off the court. (Featured Photo)

This young lady comes into this conversation packed with so much potential. She is a unicorn in the fact that she can do all things. Call her a point forward instead of a power forward, she can bring the ball up and attack just as good as she can run the lanes and catch a ball over the top. She is a 3-level scoring threat who knows how to exploit an opponent’s weakness. Doesn’t matter where she is on the floor; she is a threat to score. On the defensive end, she is a killer. Block shots, she owns the glass, she gets steals. She knows how to shut the party down. This kid is phenomenal, and power 4 schools are clamouring for her commitment. She’s one tough kid with a very high ceiling.

One of the best in the state. She will be a tough matchup for the Lady Buffaloes as she can impact the game on both ends of the floor. Her size poses as an advantage, but the many ways she can impact the game are crazy. She can score it from all 3 levels and shut down the opposition on the defensive end by getting deflections, steals, and blocks. Add in her ability to own the boards, this kid is as solid as they come. She is a Team USA invitee and has tons of schools wanting her commitment from the Power 4 level. Super talented kid who is a go-getter.
