Her effort fueled a historic night as she guided the Lady Cardinals to their first-ever 33rd District Championship.

Lay continues to be the steady leader and go-to scorer for the Lady Cards. Averaging 18.9 points per game, she combines strength, craftiness, and confidence to put constant pressure on defenses. She can score through contact, create her own shot, and finish in traffic, making her one of the toughest matchups in the region. Her leadership shows in big moments, where she consistently rises to the occasion and delivers when her team needs it most.

Lay is primed for a special senior season! She buried 41 threes, led her team with 19.7 points per game, and shot 77 percent from the free throw line. Her scoring ability will be crucial in the tough 3rd District and in the Lady Cardinals’ push to make noise in the 1st Region. Lay already holds a Division I offer from Morehead State, and more should be on the way!

Lay averaged a team-leading 19.7 points per game and led Mayfield to a district title while earning All-Purchase Team honors for the second straight year. She also became the Lady Cardinals’ all-time leader in three-point field goals and picked up multiple offers over the summer. Lay enters her senior season as one of the clear favorites for Region 1 Player of the Year.

She became the Lady Cardinals’ all-time leader in three-point field goals, and reached significant career milestones by surpassing 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds. Lay made the Paducah Sun Girls All-Purchase team for the second year in a row and received her first Division I offer from Morehead State University.

Mayes is a 1,000 point scorer that led her HS team in scoring last season putting up 17.6 PPG. She is a 3-level scorer that shoots with precision and has remarkable range from deep. She can also attack off the bounce, finish well off two feet in the paint, and has a nice touch from the mid-range. Mayes makes her presence on the defense and comes up with multiple steals per contest as well. Her intensity and effort on both ends of the floor is what makes her the player she is.
