She had the crowd buzzing as she sliced and diced her way through the lane, finished at the free-throw line plus she was fluently knocking down shots from some of her favorite spots. On the other side of the ball, Layla made the effort to get deflections as well as fight for 50/50 possessions. It’s delightful to see someone with so much offensive capacity put her best foot forward on the defensive end too. Layla’s well-rounded game is being showcased in a great light. Rivera definitely deserves the recognition for the way she’s showing up.

Rivera is showing she’s a legitimate threat that can be a difference maker when she’s on her game. Layla scored gracefully even with heavy pressure from defense plus she found other ways to affect plays consistently. Her 26 pts, 10 reb, 3 stl, 3 ast plus the 1 bl couldn’t have come at a better time either. The ’27 guard is one to keep an eye on through the remainder of the season.

It’s clear Layla is a talented basketball player, however it was the mental aspect of the game that got in the way of her true potential. She’s a shot-maker that can prove to be electric at times, filling it up in a hurry when she’s on. Rivera will be counted on this year for her squad and she’ll be in an even better position to showcase her full capacity.

Rivera is going to come into the season as one Brockton’s key factors. Her capacity to make tough shots feels special at times. She gets hot quickly and when the jump shot is falling, the defense can be in for a long day. As Rivera has another year under her belt, she’ll be able to come in more mature which can bring her game to another level.

Layla has the capability to be that spark scorer that can help lift her team up when they’re in need. She has great shooting upside that allows her to put up points fast when she gets hot. Rivera moves well and is extremely strong-willed with the ball in her hand. Currently ranked within the top 100, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her move up after the AAU season concludes.
