Layne made her presence felt for Team Sparks with her polished offensive skill set and impressive footwork around the basket. She consistently sealed her defender to create easy scoring opportunities inside and showed great touch finishing around the rim. Layne also displayed her versatility by knocking down mid-range jumpers and connecting from beyond the arc, making her a tough matchup for any defender. Her ability to play with poise in the post while stretching the floor demonstrated her well-rounded game and basketball IQ.

Layne is one of the notable 2026 prospects competing at the Headliners Invitational–she’ll be one of the best forward prospects in the gym. Layne has multiple D3 options heading into the showcase and it was her outstanding play at Northwood Team Camp that solidified her as a top 100 prospect in the class. She has great hands and finishing touch around the rim. Layne uses her length and instincts to excel on both ends–I expect her to have a big day.

Layne is a forward who left a strong impression at Northwood Team Camp with Walled Lake Northern. She combined length with physicality to have a very impactful presence in the paint on both ends. Layne cut backdoor, caught the pass with good hands, and finished the layup off two feet. She worked hard to secure offensive rebounds and scored put-backs. Layne knocked down a mid-range corner jumper, converted many layups, and rejected multiple shots at the rim with authority.

Layne is a player I’m eager to learn more about this spring. Coach Smith describes Layne as “a gritty inside presence with a very high motor and good court sense. She is willing to guard every position and runs the floor extremely well.” Layne was 3rd Team Lakes Valley Conference, averaging 6.1 points, four rebounds, and one block per game this season.
